He was the greatest school teacher of our generation and inspired 20 annual cohorts of Colchester Royal Grammar School students to believe in themselves and to find ways to reach their potential. Sport, drama and a love of English language and Literature were his hallmarks. It is so fine a feeling to know that his qualities are being commemorated in the naming of a new Music, Drama and Sports Hall at CRGS as The George Young Building. His five great loves in life were his wife Eve, his daughter Alison, his regiment (The Green Howards), St Dunstan's (now the Blind Veterans Assoc'n) and the schools at which he taught, notably CRGS.
